1959 Japanese Fire Equipment

Toyota styling borrows from Ford, Prince borrows from Dodge and Nissan steals from Jeep, shamelessly. 21st Century Chinese vehicls are playing the same game, but often steal from the Japanese!

More scans from the 1959 yearbook of the Motors Trade Association of Japan. I’ve probably had this book for 20 years, traded a later edition of the same for it. My flickr friends are enjoying these, so I have scanned more pages for your entertainment.

1959 Japanese Fire Equipment

The American military hired local firms to maintain their vehicles, so it’s a natural that when they start making their own the final product looks just like the American.

Autocar for logging

From a 1963 yearbook for the logging industry in the USA. Ads for all kinds of machines and materials used to harvest trees. Bought it for $2 at a yard sale here in Cosmopolis, Washington, an old wood mill town.

There is some old growth timber (cedar, spruce, redwood) on that trailer, no longer harvested, as it is a national treasure. Second and third growth is now the mainstay of timber in the Northwest.
