Some firemen were in the Aberdeen Museum today when I was there, so I took a few shots myself.
The early fire pump was pulled by fire fighters and then pumped by them, too. It wasn’t much help in 1906, when most of the downtown burnt to the ground. Here in timber country, the entire town was built of wood, in those days. Aberdeen’s downtown then was bars and whore houses almost exclusively. The city had several nicknames, like "Hellhole of the Pacific" and "Port of Lost Sailors".
